“Make It Sew” Days are a Success ! !

“Make It Sew hosted around 20 participants at each location (Broomfield Jan. 19 & Englewood Jan. 26) that sewed snuggle kits for Firehouse Quilts.

What a busy shop!!

It was a beautiful day to share our joy of quilting.

Altogether, around 20 snuggle quilts were made and donated to FHQ from each location and we’re still counting.

Many volunteers took kits home and will be bringing them back soon.

Several participants enjoyed learning to use the Long-arm quilting machines, as well.

Many thanks to all the volunteers at both locations for attending the Sew-Ins for Firehouse Quilts

at Make It Sew!!

Awesome!

2 volunteers almost finished; they're working on the

binding now.

Broomfield area volunteers share the tables and share ideas and techniques with each other.  Most of these volunteers at least finished putting together a quilt top while at the shop.

Karen Juenneman, shop owner, demonstrates a technique to Anna Tyler and Katy Black while J Kelly concentrates on finishing her quilt top.

Debby Nye, Ellen Palmer and Joann Fajardo discuss how pretty the quilts turn out, even when the pattern is just a 'patchwork', lots of squares of different fabric laid out in a pleasing design.

Joyce, a Broomfield area volunteer, gets her thread ready to begin quilting her finished top.

Look at all the soft pastel blocks in this quilt.

Karen Juenneman, shop owner, helps Elizabeth Bradac get ready to add her binding. The top is quilted and ready to be squared up for binding.

This is the 2nd year that Karen & Bob Juenneman have sponsored Sew-Ins for Firehouse Quilts at both of their shops .  They open their doors to us on their day off to accommodate all the workers that show up.  They always provide a huge variety of breakfast snacks and drinks for the volunteers plus all kinds of door prizes, with the grand prize of a basket of beautiful threads, valued at $100 at each shop.

Make It Sew owners are also donating a beautiful sewing machine for one of our quilt show prizes in our kid's category again for the second year in a row.

Be sure to enter your quilt(s) in our show (July 17 & 18, 2009)

AND

bring a carload of your friends to spend a day at the show with us!
