FHQ Quilts Donated to Action Care Ambulance

Here are some of children that were helped by our quilts during 2007:

01/15/07 - transported a 3 year old female with possible hypothermia after being found wandering outside in the extreme cold. Beautiful blanket helped to warm very cold little girl up a bit.

01/21/07 - transported a 6 year old male with a head injury. Patient was sleeping & didn't really notice the blanket due to his condition, but the parents thought that it was a nice gesture.

01/22/07 - transported a 7 ½ month old female with flu like symptoms; she seemed to relax when wrapped up in blanket.

01/28/07 - transported a 2 year old male who was having trouble breathing; he just cuddled into blanket.

02/09/07 - transported a 13 year old male with psychological issues. He was from Somali & liked the blanket a lot.

02/12/07 - transported a 7 year old female with pneumonia. She was very shy & scared, but cuddled into her blanket.

02/13/07 - transported a 2 year old male with flu like symptoms. Patient was very sick but his mother thought that the blanket was a wonderful gesture and thanked us.

02/14/07 - We transported a 4 year old female who had difficulty breathing. She was very anxious to get to hospital so she could get her blanket from her dad, so our medic pulled out one you made.  Patient & mother spent the rest of the transport looking at it; the quilt helped calm her down.  She was very excited that we gave it to her!

 

02/20/07 - We transported a 3 year old female who had an infected dog bite. She loved the quilt.

03/04/07 - We transported a 15 month old female who had difficulty breathing & croup. Patient’s mother enjoyed the quilt and thought it was a very nice gesture.

03/07/07 - We transported a 3 year old female for possible toxic chemical exposure. This patient’s family was using the house to make drugs -- this little girl lost everything.  She loved the quilt.

03/17/07 - We transported a 3 year old female post febrile seizure. The patient was very lethargic, but her mother really appreciated the quilt.

03/17/07 - We transported a 1 month old female with difficulty breathing. Her mother thanked us for the quilt and said that it was beautiful.

03/21/07 - We transported a 1 month old female for choking.  Her parents appreciated the quilt and wrapped it around the baby.

03/24/07 - We transported a 5 year old female with a closed head injury.  She really loved the quilt.

04/07/07 - We transported a 6 year old male with Epiglottis.  He was pretty distraught, but his parents really appreciated the quilt.

04/24/07 - We transported a 10 month old male with a respiratory virus.  He was a sick little boy; his mother was thrilled to receive "such a wonderful gift.”

04/26/07 - We transported a 2 year old male with a fever and rash.  He smiled when we gave the quilt to his mother and reached out to her for the quilt.

about their 2006 donations.

34 month old male child, has Leukemia.  Mother said “he’s at the beginning of a long road with Leukemia and this will help him all the way.

 

08/17/06-----transported a 12yo female following appendicitis surgery-----Scared little girl---Quilt made a big difference---You should have seen the smile on her face! 

08/18/06-----transported a 22mo female w/2nd degree burns on both hands----patients eyes opened wide and she smiled----She likes the blankie!!! 

09/14/06-transported a 12yo male w/depression; said quilt made him feel safe. 

09/05/06-----transported a 6yo male w/asthma & fever-----Loves it---he perked up in spirits---His Mom could not ride with, he said this helped make the trip better 

09/09/06-----transported a 4yo male w/fx left arm----He broke his arm at a birthday party---patient was very polite and well behaved----he said quilt made up for him having to leave party

 

09/11/06-----transported a 9yo male w/strep throat----said that quilt made him warm and comfortable

09/21/06   we transported a 2 year old male patient for a pelvic fracture-

                    he smiled when given the blanket.

 

09/29/06   we transported a 2 year old male patient for evaluation after an apartment fire----patient was thankfully not injured, but it was nice to be able to give him a blanket to help comfort him and his mother.

 

10/02/06   we transported a 5 month old female patient for dehydration-

she seemed to snuggle into the blanket.

 

10/05/06   we transported a 9 year old male patient for abdominal pain;

his eyes opened wide and he smiled.  Patient hugged it all the way to the hospital.

 

10/07/06   we transported a 17 month old female patient for evaluation

following anti-freeze ingestion; baby & mother were both excited-thanks very much!!!

 

Wow, we’re not used to getting such prompt feedback about the children that receive our quilts.  This really motivates us to keep up the good work!

10/23/06          we transported a 3 year old female that had fallen off a horse & had a skull fracture.

Note from parent: ‘Dear Volunteers of the Firehouse Quilts, thank you very much for the very special quilt.  Your quilts are greatly appreciated. May God bless you all.  Thank you very much!!’

 

10/24/06           we transported a 10 year old female for a femur fracture---‘she loved the blanket!!  Thank you’.

 

10/26/06           we transported a 23 month old male for SOB & to R/o RSV---The quilt kept our patient nice and warm in a snow storm. Thanks!

 

10/30/06           we transported a 3 year old male to r/o bowel obstruction---note for parent: ‘Thank you so much. We'll enjoy it when he feels better.’ 

 

11/03/06           we transported a 6 year old female with seizures, nice way to calm a freaked out little girl! 

 

11/09/06           we transported a 10 year old female for post traumatic stress disorder, Bipolar----Patient thought the blanket was "very pretty" and "very soft."  I think she really enjoyed the gift.  She said she ‘doesn't receive many gifts.’

 

11/15/06           we transported an 8 year old male for aggressive behavior.  He seemed to settle down and relax once we gave him the quilt.  He held it close even after we got him to hospital----wouldn't let it go.
