Community Safety Volunteer Program

A volunteer with the Douglas County Sheriff's Community Safety Volunteer Program was attending a community event with his patrol car.  Two young girls attending the event were cold & shivering so he gave them each a quilt.  A relative of the girls later told him that the girls had recently witnessed their mother assault an officer and they were now afraid of officers.  This gesture appeared to dispel their fear of uniformed officers.
