Karen Juenemann (owner of Make It Sew) and

Dusty Darrah (FHQ) display quilts donated to the Broomfield shop for Firehouse Quilts.

Bob & Karen Juenemann, owners of Make It Sew sewing & quilting machine shops in Broomfield & Englewood, hosted two Sew-In’s at their shops in February 2008 to benefit Firehouse Quilts.

They invited the public and their customers in to make snuggle quilts for us.  They provided endless supplies, sewing machines, thread, etc., pre-made kits and door prizes for the guests.

An average of 20 volunteers came to help sew quilt tops and learn how to use the long arm quilting machines

at each location.

See them at work here.

Jessica Casady (Make It Sew) and Ellen Palmer (FHQ) display more quilts donated to Firehouse Quilts

from the Make It Sew stores.

Karen Juenemann (owner of Make It Sew) worked with Ellen Palmer (FHQ) for several months, co-ordinating dates, kits, availability, advertising, etc. until it all came together.

The first batch of donated quilts from Karen's shop totaled 41 beautiful quilts like you see in these first two pictures.  They arrived even before any of the Sew-In's had happened.

Debbie Nye displays completed quilts from the Sew-Ins at our

regular FHQ Sew Day.

By the end of February, the quilt donation boxes held 75 completed quilts, fleece blankies and afghans.  They were picked up from Make It Sew and brought to our regular FHQ Sew Day for

part of our Show & Tell.

Everyone was so pleased to see all

the completed quilts!

We owe so many thanks to Bob & Karen Juenemann for offering to host these Sew-Ins at their shops.

All their efforts are definitely appreciated!

Please support Make It Sew as often as you can!
