See the huge rolls of batting under the quilting machine? That was donated for the volunteers to use at Sew-Ins too. What wonderful, giving people own the Make It Sew shops. |
On February 10th, 2008, Bob & Karen Juenemann hosted our first Sew-In at their Broomfield location, providing instruction and guidance on all of their quilting machines. They setup sewing machines for all the volunteers to use with thread, scissiors, pins, etc. all the supplies that were needed for the volunteers to just come in, sit down and start sewing. |
Mary Peterson (FHQ) uses the long arm quilting machine for the first time. Several of the volunteers had never used these large machines before and whomever wanted to try them out was given the opportunity and the guidance to do it on their own. |
|
This machine was used mostly for snuggle quilts that are around 45" square. Quilts were going on and coming off this machine real quickly. |
Concentration runs high when first learning how to quilt. |
Barbara McCrorie (FHQ) enjoyed learning how to quilt on the long arm machines. |
Doesn't she look at ease, just quilting away on the twin sized quilt? |
Mary Peterson (FHQ) demonstrates how to make a block with partial seams. |
Several volunteers working hard to complete their snuggle quilts during the Sew-In. |
Karen Juenemann, owner of Make It Sew, helps volunteer Yvonne with the layout of her patchwork blocks. |
Volunteers hardly taking time to eat lunch that was brought into the shop, completed a lot of snuggle quilts that day. |
Volunteers using the sewing machines provided by the shop owners to sew the quilt tops together. |
Dusty Darrah (FHQ) helps square up the blocks as volunteers prepare to sew their rows together. |
Hope you enjoyed the pictures from the Broomfield Sew-In!
We certainly appreciate all their hard work, as well as
the generousity of the owners of Make It Sew.
