Firehouse Quilt Show – Quilt Entries

The purpose of the FHQ Annual Quilt Show is to raise funds for our non-profit organization in order to purchase supplies for making quilts and continue our mission.

There is an entry fee for each quilt entered and we invite & encourage local quilters to enter quilts into our show.

Additionally, each quilter has the option of just displaying their quilts or having them judged, as we want to offer our show as a fun & unique event that everyone can enjoy while seeing quilts made locally.

Judging

Our judges & scribes volunteer their time; the purpose for judging is two fold. One is to inform, educate & encourage the quilters and the other is to recognize & reward the

best quilts in the different categories.

Inform

The judges are provided a form to complete as they judge the quilts for workmanship, appearance & design. The form is completed and given to the person that entered the quilt at the end of the show.

Highlight

As we all love looking at quilts and want to grow

in our knowledge of quilting,

FHQ will highlight the “best” on display.

There are many ways to do this and we have chosen the following: we will recognize 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for 10-15 categories, plus Youth and

Kids categories.

Prizes

Include Bed & Breakfast Weekend Lodging, Sewing Machines, Quilters Gift Baskets and ribbons.

The judges choose the quilt they feel has best utilized color after comparing all the quilts in the contest.

The winner of this award is highlighted with a prize and special ribbon indicating the quilt selected as the favorite by all who attend the quilt show on Friday and

through noon on Saturday.

Vintage Quilts

These quilts will not be judged but will be beautifully displayed and identified.  This category can also be used for quilts that are entered but are NOT being judged.
