Pandemic Allows Plenty of Time to Sew

It’s been over a month since the ladies of Firehouse Quilts have been able to meet for a sew day.  Because there have been many hours available to get various projects accomplished during the quarantine, we thought it would be fun to see what everyone has been doing.  Some of the FHQ ladies have been cleaning their houses from top to bottom, updating photos from the last ten years, preparing flower beds for spring, fostering kittens, and of course sewing.  One much needed item that nine members have been making are face masks for the staff and children at Shiloh House.  As of this date nearly 125 masks have been donated to Shiloh.  Other great projects are hooded towels and bibs for Florence Crittenton made by Christie M, fabric bags for a new client to put quilts in that Alice Z. sewed, six quilts that were finished by our long arm quilter Cathy D, and a gorgeous quilt top that Mary P. has finished and named Corona.  We are all missing our time together and hope that soon we have the opportunity to meet again to work on our quilts for kids in crisis.

If you would like to share your photos and stories about projects you have been working on, send them to firehousequilts@ecentral.com
