Quilts Donated to Grand Lake and Granby

On November 17th, Jeanette, who is the owner of Cabin Quilts and Stitches in Granby, received 98 quilts from Firehouse Quilts.  She has been the contact person for families and individuals who have lost their homes in the East Troublesome fire.   People from Grand Lake and Granby are able to visit Jeanette’s store to pick out their own quilt.  Currently she is allowing only one quilt per family, but in the future will see if there are enough to give them more.  Between 300 to 400 homes and out buildings were destroyed by the fire.  Over 300 quilts have been donated from shops and guilds in the Denver area and mountains.  When driving around the two communities you can see how close the fire came to them.  The winds of nearly 100 miles per hour pushed the fire in many directions taking some buildings and leaving some next door.  It was extremely moving to see the devastation and also heart warming to know that the quilts from FHQ will be donated to those who are truly in need.  Thank you to Christie, Barbara, Jacque and their husbands for making this long trip to make this donation.
